Job summary

PM Pediatrics is seeking a Medical Assistant to support pediatric urgent care operations. You will provide clinical and administrative assistance to providers and patients, greet and register arriving patients, and help prepare for X-rays and labs under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior Medical Assistant experience or education.
• Knowledge of EKG placement and processing in children.
• Ability to obtain laboratory tests via nasal swab and venipuncture.
• Professional and friendly demeanor with strong communication.
• Prior pediatric experience preferred.
• Capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable with computers and basic office software.
• Willingness to learn medical software and new systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations.
• Greet and register patients as they arrive.
• Obtain medical history, patient vital signs, and intake.
• Prepare patients for X-rays.
• Perform and document routine labs (venipuncture experience preferred).
• Irrigate and assist with wounds.
• Assist in quality control testing in the lab.
• Be part of the patient care team and assist within scope of practice.
• Keep exam rooms and front reception stocked with supplies.
• Maintain waiting room cleanliness and order.
• Follow safety practices and precautions.
• Assist in emergencies and notify medical team as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adjust to policy changes.
• Enhance practice reputation by ownership of tasks and adding value.
• Assist patients with complaints and service recovery as needed.
• Perform other duties including splint applications and assisting nurse/provider.
