Job summary

Children's of Alabama seeks a Patient Care Assistant for MedSurg 9 Harbert to assist with patient care, clerical tasks, and communication among patients, families and staff. The role operates on a Day-Evening, part-time schedule with rotations 0645-1915 and every other weekend.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year clerical or patient-care experience, familiarity with medical terminology, and a High School diploma; Basic Life Support is essential.

Qualifications

• One year of clerical experience required and familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
• Six months of patient care experience within the last two years or enrollment in a medical program.
• CNA, CMA, PCT or EMT certification may be accepted as equivalent qualifications.
• Basic Life Support is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistive care under supervision of RNs and LPNs.
• Offer clerical support and maintain clear communication with patients, families, and staff.
• Support patients and visitors on a busy medical-surgical unit.
