Job summary

Children's of Alabama is seeking an Office Medical Assistant II - Advanced to support a fast-paced pediatric clinic in Hueytown. The role blends direct patient care—triage, blood draws, specimen collection, and basic imaging—with administrative coordination to ensure OSHA/COA/PCMH standards are met.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of Medical Assistant experience, CMA/RMA certification preferred, and the ability to manage both clinical and administrative tasks efficiently.

Qualifications

• 3 years Medical Assistant experience required; CMA/RMA preferred.
• Certified or willing to obtain CMA/RMA.
• Experience with triage, phlebotomy, immunizations, and basic imaging.

Responsibilities

• Call and accompany patients from the waiting room to the exam room.
• Triage patients by obtaining a brief history and preparing for the physician's exam.
• Perform capillary and venipuncture blood draws, collect urine specimens, oral and nasal swabs as required.
• Perform laboratory testing (waived and moderate complexity) with real-time EMR documentation.
• Conduct audiograms and visual exams.
• Prepare and administer nebulizer treatments and immunizations as directed.
• Prepare and submit medical instruments for sterilization and dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards.
• Maintain orderly patient flow and coordinate movement between exam rooms, lab, and X-ray.
