Job summary

OU Health seeks a dedicated Surgery Support Tech to assist in Pediatric Surgery. You will transport patients, specimens, and equipment, support the surgical suite, and help maintain sterile conditions.

Under supervision, you will follow procedures, communicate changes to OR staff, and perform routine cleaning and restocking. A high school diploma or GED and BLS certification are required, with no prior experience necessary and strong teamwork skills expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• No prior healthcare experience required.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients, specimens, supplies, blood, and equipment as directed.
• Ensures all procedures are followed for the safe transport of blood and other specimens.
• Transports patients and families to appropriate areas or waiting rooms.
• Observes and communicates any changes to the OR desk or charge nurse.
• May be required to take emergency action.
• Helps move and position patients in the Surgical Suite as needed.
• Completes required documentation.
• Immediately reports any changes in patient’s condition during transport.
• Performs daily and/or weekly cleaning within the Surgical Suites.
• Follows established procedures and guidelines for cleaning operating rooms.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the department including hallways, bathrooms, lounges, and supply areas.
• Complies with all relevant procedures and regulations related to hospital sanitation, cleanliness, and safety.
• Ensures proper disposal of waste items and material.
• Restocks supplies, linens, and solutions.
• Performs other support services as requested.
