Job summary

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist in the Department of Pediatrics. You will work with developmental-behavioral and neurodevelopmental pediatrics teams to provide comprehensive care to children with intellectual, developmental, and neurodevelopmental disabilities.

The role involves evaluation and treatment of swallowing and feeding disorders, collaboration with physicians, dietitians, and nurses, plus teaching medical students and residents.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Valid State of Illinois Speech-Language Pathologist license.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Responsibilities

  • Provide developmentally appropriate evaluation and treatment for children with swallowing and feeding disorders.
  • Perform comprehensive feeding and swallowing evaluations for children with developmental, neurological, genetic, and medical conditions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals based on evidence-based practices.
  • Provide safe, effective, and ongoing speech-language and feeding therapy.
  • Educate families on safe feeding techniques, positioning, texture modifications, pacing strategies, and home exercise programs.
  • Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, psychologists, social workers, and nursing staff to provide comprehensive feeding care.
