Job summary

The acute care speech pathologist at Cook Children’s Medical Center - Fort Worth will evaluate, diagnose, and treat medically complex pediatric patients across medical/surgical and ICU settings. Qualifications

• Master's degree in speech/language pathology; at least 2 years of pediatric feeding/swallowing experience in an acute pediatric hospital preferred.
• BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
• State license or eligibility for state licensure.
• Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech/Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP) or eligible after Clinical Fellowship Year; must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat medically complex pediatric patients across medical/surgical and ICU settings.
• Conduct comprehensive feeding evaluations and instrumental swallow assessments; manage feeding/dysphagia for infants to adolescents.
• Develop individualized evidence‑based treatment plans for cognitive communication, speech, and language disorders.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, dietitians, lactation, respiratory therapists, and OTs/PTs to optimize outcomes.
• Provide family‑centered care with caregiver education; document electronically; participate in rounding, staff education, and quality/safety initiatives; on‑call weekend/holiday coverage.
