Shriners Children’s – Portland is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to join the PACU unit of the Surgical Services department. The RN will provide care during the pre- and post-operative phases and will lead care planning within the FOCUSED model, mentoring peers and supporting patient families.

The role requires RN licensure, BLS, and pediatric acute care experience; PEAR, PALS, and ACLS are preferred. Pay ranges reflect experience and departmental equity.

Qualifications

• RN license in state of practice.

• Minimum 2 years acute care hospital experience.

Job Description

Shriners Children’s – Portland is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to join the PACU unit of the Surgical Services department! This position provides care during the pre- and post-operative phase of a patients’ surgical experience. The RN will function within the Shriners Children’s Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues.

• Outcomes Identification and Planning.

• Implements the identified plan and coordinates care delivery.

• Utilizes teaching strategies appropriateto the individual patient’s condition and learning needs.

• Evaluates the patient/family’s understandingof and response to the plan or care.

• Maintains a professional and therapeutic nurse-patient relationship and serves as a patient advocate assisting patients and families in developing skills for self-advocacy.

• Utilizes current evidence based nursing knowledge, including research findings, to guideand evaluate practice.

Required Qualifications:

• RN License in state of practice

• Basic Life Support (BLS)

• PEAR, PALS, ACLS

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor in Nursing, preferred

• 2 years Acute Care Hospital

• Experience in the pediatric specialty of the hospital

The pay range for this position is $42.79 - $64.20. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
