Job summary

Shriners Children's in Portland seeks a PRN Registered Nurse to join the PACU team in the Surgical Services department. The RN will care for patients in the pre- and post-operative phases, applying the Professional Practice Model and evidence-based nursing to plan, implement, and evaluate care.

Ideal candidates hold an active RN license in Oregon with BLS, and demonstrate strong communication, mentoring, and patient advocacy skills.

Qualifications

• RN license in the state of practice and BLS certification.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred; pediatric acute care experience valued.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues.
• Outcomes Identification and Planning.
• Implements the identified plan and coordinates care delivery.
• Utilizes teaching strategies appropriate to the individual patient's condition and learning needs.
• Evaluates the patient/family's understanding of and response to the plan or care.
• Maintains a professional and therapeutic nurse-patient relationship and serves as a patient advocate.

Job Description

Shriners Children's - Portland is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to join the PACU unit of the Surgical Services department! This position provides care during the pre- and post-operative phase of a patients’ surgical experience. The RN will function within the Shriners Children's Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.

Required Qualifications

• RN License in state of practice Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's in nursing 2 years Acute Care Hospital Experience in the pediatric specialty of the hospital

Compensation

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
