Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a research assistant to join the Simpson Querrey Biomedical Research Center.

The role conducts tests, sets up and operates equipment, records observations and collects data in a pediatric research lab, following predefined protocols and Good Laboratory Practices. Responsibilities include assisting in molecular biology, immunology and/or animal assays (ELISA, Western blot, PCR), maintaining equipment and inventories, and

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent with some basic science courses.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with diverse groups.
• Working knowledge of computers and ability to troubleshoot.
• Excellent command of English and effective communication.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Follow predefined protocols and conduct standard experiments per regulations.
• Set up, operate and maintain standard lab equipment.
• Perform molecular biology, cellular biology, immunology and/or animal assays (e.g., ELISA, Western blot, PCR, flow cytometry).
• Act as liaison between collaborative groups.
• Record test results and maintain databases, support investigators.
• Maintain facility use records, scheduling, inventory, and cleaning of instrumentation.
• Provide service-focused contribution and teamwork for high-quality care and work.
• Other job functions as assigned.
