Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a laboratory technologist to perform routine and specialized tests in a pediatric setting at the Outpatient Center in Lincoln Park.

You will follow testing procedures, maintain quality controls, document results, and assist in evaluating new methods while training rotating residents and students. This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork to deliver excellent care to patients and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (Required)
• Meets regulatory requirements for moderate or high complexity testing
• Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task

Responsibilities

• Follow clinical laboratory testing procedures and policies for routine and specialized tests.
• Apply scientific method in problem solving and assist in evaluating new methods.
• Record necessary documentation to comply with regulations and perform instrument maintenance.
• Instruct and train rotating residents, students, physicians and new staff in testing procedures.
• Ensure a clean work area and maintain supplies at each workstation.
• Assist in development and evaluation of new procedures and protocols.
• Perform competency testing and complete continuing education requirements.
• Other duties such as coordinating and documenting competency testing.
