Job summary

MUHA seeks a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to perform high-quality radiographic exams across diverse settings and to support accurate diagnosis. The role requires ARRT registration (or within 6 months), SC licensure, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • ARRT registration required or obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • SC Radiation Quality Standards license required.
  • BLS certification (AHA/ARC) required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations per physician orders and protocols.
  • Ensures diagnostic images are obtained accurately and efficiently for interpretation.
  • Administers contrast agents under physician supervision when directed.
  • Verifies patient ID and orders prior to procedures.
  • Positions patients and operates radiographic equipment safely.

Job Description Summary

As a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist at MUSC, you have access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment to capture detailed X-ray images, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment planning for a wide range of medical conditions across 16 community hospitals including 3 level 1 trauma centers and many unique outpatient clinics across South Carolina. Responsibilities
  • Performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Ensures diagnostic images are obtained accurately and efficiently for physician interpretation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast agents as directed and under the supervision of a physician.
  • Verifies patient identification, examination orders, and relevant clinical information prior to procedures.
  • Positions patients appropriately and operates radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintains patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout examinations.
  • Reviews images for quality and completeness and obtains additional images when necessary.
  • Follows radiation safety practices and applicable departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Documents examinations and patient information accurately in the appropriate electronic systems.
  • Maintains equipment and work areas in accordance with department standards and infection prevention protocols.
Required License, Certification and Registration
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Experience: 0 to 2 years of modality specific work experience.
  • Required Registration/Certification: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), If not registered must obtain the registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
