Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Phlebotomist for a fully onsite role in San Bernardino, CA. The position involves venipuncture across pediatric and neonatal patients, with on-call duties and weekend/holiday coverage.

You will ensure specimen integrity, follow safety standards, and train staff in phlebotomy procedures. The role requires strong LIS experience (Cerner or similar) and a high school diploma or equivalent, with CPT 1 certification.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in blood collection across all ages, including pediatrics and neonates.
• Pediatrics and neonatal draws experience; manage difficult draws in varied settings.
• Strong safety and compliance knowledge; apply consistently.
• Able to train staff in phlebotomy procedures and specimen handling.
• Experience with laboratory information systems and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary collections across patients of all ages.
• Carry out pediatric draws and manage difficult collections in multiple settings.
• Review orders to ensure accuracy before specimen collection.
• Package and process specimens per lab protocol to preserve sample integrity.
• Display strong safety and compliance practices in daily work.
• Provide orientation and training to patient service technicians in phlebotomy.
• Use LIS to enter and track patient and specimen data accurately.
• Maintain excellent attendance and professional demeanor; support patient care.
• Work on-call, including leaves, vacations, and same-day call-offs as needed.
• Work weekends/holidays as scheduled; participate in noc and daytime orientation.
• Meet expected draw volumes in outpatient and inpatient settings.
