Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Inpatient Phlebotomist for a Whittier, CA facility. The role covers venipuncture and capillary punctures across all ages, accessioning and processing specimens, and maintaining patient-care standards in a high-volume morning draw environment.

The position is contract to hire, onsite, with 4am to 12:30pm shifts and a biweekly 40+ hour commitment. California CPT and BLS required; neonatal experience preferred; Sunquest with EPIC planned.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification required.
• Experience with venipuncture and capillary puncture across all ages.
• Minimum 1 year in acute care or 5 years ambulatory phlebotomy.
• Comfortable with high-volume draws.
• Familiarity with Sunquest and EPIC transitions.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws via venipuncture and capillary punctures for all ages.
• Accession and process specimens within normal time limits.
• Apply appropriate phlebotomy techniques for diverse patients.
• Provide coverage for morning draws for approximately 50 patients from 4am to 9am.
• Maintain high customer service and patient-care standards.
• Work independently during early morning shifts.
