Job summary

Joseph Michaels International seeks a skilled phlebotomist to perform blood draws, label specimens, and manage specimen handling and transport in a Reston lab. You will record maintenance data, ensure accuracy of patient information, and adhere to safety and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate has phlebotomy certification and at least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced setting, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification required by state where employed
• Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in fast-paced lab or hospital
• High school diploma or GED; 2 years phlebotomy experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label specimens
• Centrifuge specimens and maintain data and temperature logs
• Explain venipuncture process to patients clearly and courteously
• Match requisition forms to specimens and ensure correct labeling
• Package specimens for transport and ensure proper storage
• Follow OSHA/DEP regulations and attend annual trainings
• Answer calls and relay laboratory results as needed
