Job summary

SMS Clinical Research seeks a Pediatric Phlebotomist who will also serve as a Clinical Research Assistant to join our pediatric-focused team in Texas. The role emphasizes blood draws for newborns and children, with a focus on safety and accurate specimen collection.

The ideal candidate has substantial hands-on pediatric venipuncture experience, excellent communication skills with families, and a collaborative approach to research visits and procedures. Travel between SMS locations is required.

Qualifications

• Strong pediatric phlebotomy experience required.
• Experience drawing blood from newborns, infants and young children.
• Excellent venipuncture and specimen-collection skills.
• Able to communicate with parents/guardians and children.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to follow study protocols.
• Willing to travel between SMS Clinical Research locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws on pediatric patients, including newborns.
• Obtain high-quality blood specimens while ensuring comfort.
• Assist with pediatric visits and study procedures.
• Support screening, enrollment, and study visits.
• Perform vital signs, ECGs, specimen processing, and other research-related procedures as trained.
• Maintain accurate and timely study documentation.
• Follow study protocols, ICH/GCP guidelines, and site SOPs.
• Communicate professionally with patients, parents/guardians, investigators, and research staff.
• Assist with recruitment and other clinical research activities as needed.
• Travel between SMS Clinical Research locations/sites as needed
