Job summary

SMS Clinical Research is seeking an experienced Pediatric Phlebotomist who will also work as a Clinical Research Assistant to join our growing clinical research team.

This role is ideal for a highly skilled phlebotomist who enjoys working with infants, children, and families and is eager to expand experience in clinical research.

Responsibilities include pediatric blood draws, coordinating visits, and traveling between SMS locations as needed, with emphasis on safety and protocol compliance.

Qualifications

• Strong pediatric phlebotomy experience is required.
• Experience drawing blood from newborns, infants, and young children.
• Excellent venipuncture and specimen-collection skills.
• Comfortable working with children and communicating with parents/guardians.
• Follow protocols with attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel between SMS Clinical Research locations.
• Clinical research experience preferred but not required.

• Perform blood draws on pediatric patients, including newborns and infants.
• Obtain high-quality blood specimens while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Assist with pediatric clinical research visits and study procedures.
• Support patient screening, enrollment, and study visits.
• Perform vital signs, ECGs, specimen processing, and other research-related procedures as trained.
• Maintain accurate and timely study documentation.
• Follow study protocols, ICH/GCP guidelines, and site SOPs.
• Communicate professionally with patients, parents/guardians, investigators, and research staff.
• Assist with recruitment and other clinical research activities as needed.
• Travel between SMS Clinical Research locations/sites as needed.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is exceptionally skilled at pediatric phlebotomy, particularly with newborns and difficult pediatric draws.

This position is not a general phlebotomy position. Candidates must have significant hands-on experience drawing blood from pediatric patients, including newborns.
