Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a registered nurse in Chicago on a full‑time basis. The role requires a health care background with strong patient‑facing communication, organizational skills, and adherence to HIPAA and core values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Some college preferred.
• Some knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word applications such as Outlook and other computer skills preferred.
• Demonstrates high level of customer service and interpersonal skills when working with pediatric patients, families, physicians, nursing and other staff.
• Problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Answers multiple divisional phone calls and assists with scheduling and registration.
• Responds to hospital and department questions and distributes messages.
• Schedules new and return appointments using guidelines and tools.
• Collects patient demographic information and verifies insurance eligibility for registration.
• Transcribes referrals in Epic and submits referrals for clinical triage.
• Assists with electronic and non-electronic family communications and next steps for visits.
• Signs up patients for MyChart and uses Epiccare Link where appropriate.
• Maintains performance metrics and quality goals for department and individuals.
• Obtains referrals for scheduled services.
• Reviews outstanding patient liabilities (estimates, copays, balances, etc.).
• Exhibits professional behavior aligned with Core Values and HIPAA regulations.
• Assists in training new and current employees as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
