Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking an experienced registered nurse for essential patient care in a pediatric setting. The role focuses on comprehensive assessments, individualized plans of care, and patient-family education within a multidisciplinary team.

The position requires an IL RN license, BSN or higher, and BLS certification. You will participate in ongoing quality initiatives and adhere to hospital standards to deliver exceptional pediatric care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher required.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians and hospital staff.
• Special certifications may be required by the department.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing assessments utilizing a variety of assessment methods and tools.
• Develops or individualizes plans of care and sets goals with family involvement.
• Creates teaching plans to meet patient and family learning needs and documents changes.
• Performs nursing care according to procedures and protocols; intervenes in emergencies.
• Communicates patient status and care needs to family and multidisciplinary team.
• Keeps up to date with nursing practice through current literature and best practices.
• Incorporates hospital quality initiatives into daily activities.
• Adheres to service and professional standards to support the hospital mission.
• Works as a team member to achieve unit and hospital goals.
• Identifies learning needs and seeks resources to advance nursing practice.
