Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a registered nurse in Chicago, IL. The role requires a BSN or higher, active Illinois RN licensure, and BLS certification.

You will effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians and staff while delivering compassionate pediatric care. Responsibilities include comprehensive nursing assessments, care planning, patient education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to meet quality and safety goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or higher required.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians and hospital staff.
• Special certifications may be required by the department.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing assessments using various methods and tools.
• Develops or individualizes care plans and sets goals with family input.
• Creates teaching plans to meet patient/family learning needs and updates plans as needed.
• Performs nursing care according to procedures and intervenes in emergent situations.
• Communicates with families and multidisciplinary team regarding health care needs and status changes.
• Stays current with nursing practice through literature and evidence.
• Incorporates hospital/department quality initiatives into daily tasks.
• Adheres to standards of communication, service excellence, and professional image.
• Works cooperatively with team to meet unit/hospital goals.
• Identifies learning needs and seeks resources to advance practice.
• Performs duties with customer service focus around innovation, service excellence, and teamwork.
• Demonstrates knowledge of disinfection and sterilization protocols as required.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Current Illinois RN licensure

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
