Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pediatrics unit with a 0.6 weekend option rotating schedule. The role supports patient-centered care and requires safe, independent nursing practice with pediatric competencies.

Part-time weekend shifts offer growth and sign-on bonus opportunities. The ideal candidate holds a BSN or higher, Iowa RN license, BLS, and pediatric-focused experience; PALS and NICU certifications are valued.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Iowa or compact state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• PALS/ neonatal certifications encouraged for pediatric unit.
• Experience in acute care pediatric nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurate clinical information at handoffs to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Assess, plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate care per patient plan.
• Maintain real-time nursing documentation and ensure patient safety.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed staff as assigned.
• Provide education to patients and families and adapt care for pediatric needs.
