Job summary

Children’s National Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to provide comprehensive care for diverse pediatric patients. You will assess and stabilize patients after anesthesia, manage airways, administer medications, and collaborate across teams to deliver safe, evidence-based care.

Candidates must have a BSN, at least 2 years PACU or critical care experience, and DC RN licensure with CPR and PALS.

Qualifications

• BSN from an approved school of nursing (Preferred)
• Minimum Work Experience: 2 years PACU experience required or related clinical nursing experience in a comparable setting such as critical care or Peds ED. (Required)
• Required Licenses and Certifications: Licensed RN in DC, CPR, PALS (Required); CPAN/CPN preferred

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patient's airway postoperatively including airway management post-anesthesia.
• Perform manual intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV).
• Monitor cardiopulmonary function, airway patency, and oxygen saturation.
