Job summary

Children’s National Hospital is seeking an RN for our ambulatory surgery center in Lanham, MD. The role focuses on pre-op through recovery for pediatric patients, including sedated MRI services, with emphasis on airway management, pain control, and collaborative teamwork.

The position requires a BSN, at least 2 years PACU experience, and DC RN licensure. The schedule is part-time, with shifts of 8 or 10 hours, no weekends or on-call, allowing life outside work.

Qualifications

• BSN from an approved school of nursing.
• Minimum of 2 years PACU experience or related clinical nursing experience.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in District of Columbia (DC) is required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patient airway postoperatively, including handling airway emergencies.
• Perform manual IPPV and monitor cardiopulmonary function.
• Provide timely post-operative pain assessment and interventions.
• Manage epidural and peripheral nerve blocks as applicable.
• Maintain safety and effective handoffs; support team and communicate with patients and families.
