Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC seeks an Orthopedic Surgical Technician to provide specialized technical support to the Orthopedics division. You will assist with bracing, casting, and patient education, delivering hands-on care in a fast-paced pediatric environment. Experience in casting techniques and NBCOT/N.A.O.T.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• Minimum Work Experience 2 years experience in Orthopedics or related field (Required)
• Required Licenses and Certifications Must be active member in the National Association of Orthopedic Technologists (N. A. O. T .) 180 Days . Must pass the N. B. C. O. T . certification and/or maintain their National Board Certification 2 Yrs (Required)

Responsibilities

• Effectively performs technical duties
• Assist with applying and removing casts and braces on wards, clinic and OR
• Assist with casting, splinting and traction techniques
• Apply, modify and dismantle traction equipment
• Complete rounds as required
• Completes required documentation
• Complete service and supply charge forms
• Ensures effective use of resources
• Assist with maintaining adequate supplies in designated areas
• Assist with inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment
• Assist with the evaluation of orthopaedic supplies
• Is a communication link for patients and their families
• Provide patient care and education in a variety of orthopaedic subjects to patients and their families
• Provide patient communication on a level that is comfortable and understandable for the patient and their family
