Job summary

Shriners Children’s Chicago is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team on a full-time basis. The APP will provide comprehensive outpatient management for pediatric orthopedic patients and support inpatient care alongside a multidisciplinary team.

The role involves autonomous patient visits, tandem clinics with surgeons, casting, fracture follow-up, and education. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Master of Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent required.
• PA license in state of practice required.
• NCCPA certification required.
• MSN or DNP for NP path required.
• APRN certifications in pediatric or family practice preferred.
• Current RN and APRN licenses required.
• RNFA certification preferred (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments for pediatric orthopedic patients.
• Develop and coordinate care plans with supervising physicians.
• Provide pre-/post-operative evaluations and perioperative care.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests within licensure.
• Perform procedures and assist in surgical cases.
• Educate patients and families and coordinate care across teams.
• Maintain licensure, certifications, and training requirements.
• Support quality improvement and research initiatives.

Education

Master of Physician Assistant Studies (or equivalent degree)

Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of practice

Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

ANCC/AANP board certification in pediatric or family NP

Current RN and APRN license in the state of practice

RNFA certification (preferred)
