Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hawaii is seeking a PRN Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our pediatric orthopedic team. The APP will work across outpatient clinics and the inpatient floor, providing high-quality care to children with musculoskeletal conditions and fractures.

The role emphasizes collaboration with pediatric orthopedic surgeons, comprehensive assessments, education for families, and independent evaluation of straightforward injuries with guidance

Qualifications

• Must hold an accredited PA program Master of Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent; active PA license and NCCPA.
• NP path requires MSN or DNP with ANCC/AANP board certification in applicable area (CPNP-AC/CPNP-PC or FNP).
• Two+ years of pediatric advanced practice experience preferred.
• Experience in pediatric orthopedics, sports medicine, emergency/urgent care is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive, age-appropriate health assessments and exams.
• Develop differential diagnoses and care plans with supervising physicians.
• Manage care for orthopedic and related pediatric patients in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging.
• Prescribe medications per licensure and hospital policy.
• Educate patients and families; participate in clinics and care conferences.
• Document findings in EHR; support quality and safety initiatives.
