Job summary

Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team. This role provides scrub support, prepares the sterile field, and collaborates with surgeons, nurses, and assistants to ensure high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, CPR certification, and prior Surgical Technologist experience. The position includes a mid-shift schedule with weekend/holiday rotation and on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of aseptic technique.
• Human relations and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate a surgical conscience at all times.
• Collaborate with RN and physicians in developing a plan of care for each patient
• Assists in the setup of the operative field with equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Assures all equipment is functioning before use.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare for procedures and ensure sterile field.
• Scrub for routine and complex procedures and anticipate the surgical needs.
• Maintain a safe, organized environment and support intra-operative nursing staff.
• Assist with equipment, supplies, and specimen handling during cases.
• Demonstrate accountability, professional judgment, and effective communication in the OR.
