Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora is seeking a Surgical Technician to provide intra-operative technical assistance in the Anschutz Operating Room, a 14‑room unit serving pediatric patients across 24 specialties.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Surgical Technology is required.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association must be current at time of hire.
• Colorado DORA Surgical Technologist or Surgical Assistant Registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with room turnovers and set-ups; restock and order supplies; participate in quality improvement activities.
• Ensure patient safety by participating in surgical time-out; label medications; verify patient weight and allergies with RN; communicate hand-offs.
• Assist with patient positioning and specimen identification.
• Monitor hazards for sharp or burn injuries.
• Safely handle bio-hazardous materials and use PPE.
• Prepare for surgery using preference cards; scrub cases as assigned; anticipate surgeons' needs.

Education

Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology

Military training program or diploma in surgical technology (in lieu of a diploma)
