Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, CO is seeking a Senior Surgical Technician to provide experienced intra-operative support during diverse pediatric procedures. Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology.
• Two years of general OR experience.
• Graduate of a military training program or a Diploma in Surgical Technology with certification may be considered in lieu.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers at time of hire.
• NBSTSA or NCCT Certified Surgical Technologist.
• Colorado DORA Surgical Technologist or Surgical Assistant Registration.

Responsibilities

• Supports room turnovers and set-ups, maintains stock of supplies, restocks, and uses non-case time to support operations.
• Models professionalism, reliability, and collaboration to promote a positive team culture.
• Assists with patient safety by engaging in surgical time-outs, labeling field medications, confirming weight and allergies with the RN before medication handoff, and selecting instruments based on procedure and patient needs.
• Assists with patient positioning and verifies specimen labeling and handling.
• Maintains vigilance for safety risks and applies appropriate PPE and biohazard controls.
• Prepares for procedures using preference cards, scrubs cases, opens supplies, and anticipates team needs.
• Provides informal precepting and guidance to new team members.
• Contributes to in-service training and participates in initiatives.
