Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our perioperative team. The role involves assisting the Circulating Nurse, preparing sterile fields, and collaborating to ensure patient safety during procedures.

You will maintain asepsis, restock supplies, and support the surgeon and team through all operative steps. Candidates should have an approved CAAHEP surgical technology program, 1–2 years of experience, and seek LCC-ST certification within a year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience and certification preferred.
• Must obtain LCC-ST certification within 1 year of employment if not already certified.
• Demonstrated knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique with anatomy and instrumentation.
• Standing 90% of the day; able to lift up to 36 pounds; handle high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Circulating Nurse in preparing supplies, instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintain safety and proper handling of specimens.
• Restock supplies in assigned room in a fiscal, efficient manner.
• Prepare operative site under RN direction and assist other team members.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth and staying updated on policies.
• Support teamwork and cooperation within the operating room.
• Maintain sterile fields and revise asepsis as per standards; assist surgeon.
• Identify and apply sterile technique throughout procedures.
