Job summary

Children’s Mercy KC is seeking an OR-staff nurse to provide specialized perioperative care for patients undergoing Level 0 to 4 surgical procedures in a hospital setting. You will prepare, monitor, and manage the patient and operative environment to ensure safety and quality.

The role requires an ADN with RN licensure, with BSN preferred for hires after Sep 1, 2013. Certification and life support training are expected on hire, and COVID-19 vaccination policies apply.

Qualifications

• ADN required to begin direct patient care.
• BSN preferred for hires after Sep 1, 2013; degree must be completed within 5 years if not yet BSN.
• Licensure as an RN in MO/KS or multi-state license required upon hire.
• Life Support Certifications required upon hire per policy.
• Specialty nursing certification encouraged for eligible nurses.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care for patients undergoing Level 0 to 4 procedures.
• Meet educational and informational needs of patients and families.
• Maintain a safe, family-centered perioperative environment.
• Apply current research to practice to improve nursing care quality.
