Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network in Allentown is seeking a physician to provide comprehensive medical services in both practice and hospital settings.

The role emphasizes high quality, cost-effective care and participation in quality and performance improvement initiatives. The physician will perform histories and physicals, adhere to practice guidelines, educate patients and families, coordinate care, and collaborate with other professionals to meet patient needs throughout the care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical school.
• Completion of residency and/or fellowship in the area of specialty.
• Board Certified/Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board.

Responsibilities

• Performs history and physical examination of all patients seen.
• Provide cost-effective, high-quality care based on best practice evidenced-based medicine.
• Adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by medical staff.
• Assess patient age-specific needs and demonstrate appropriate competency.
• Communicate regularly and appropriately with referring physicians, patients and families.
• Participate in patient and family education.
• Evaluate and implement patient health care needs.
• Perform routine exams and obtain patient histories.
• Manage treatment programs based on assessment of needs.
• Initiate treatment via prescriptions, diagnostics, exams and procedures.
• Review lab results and plan actions accordingly.
• Perform routine health maintenance for new and established patients.
• Coordinate patient care and make referrals as needed.
• Collaborate with other professionals regarding patient care.
• Coordinate care with public and mental health agencies when appropriate.
• Teach wellness habits and prevention strategies.

Education
