Job summary

Connecticut Children’s seeks a Staff Nurse for the Main Operating Room in Hartford. The role requires ASN/ADN with BSN preferred, and a minimum of 2 years perioperative nursing experience.

Active CT RN licensure, BLS/CPR at hire, ACLS within six months, and possible OR cert/PALS within 6 months are needed. The incumbent will provide direct nursing care, lead unit activities as assigned, and ensure timely documentation while educating patients and families on care plans.

Qualifications

• ASN/ADN required upon hire; BSN preferred; if ADN, must obtain BSN within 3 years of hire.
• Minimum of 2 years perioperative nursing experience.
• Current CT RN licensure and BLS/CPR at hire; ACLS within six months.
• Specialty OR nursing licensure preferred; PALS within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct professional nursing care to patients across the entire episode of service delivery.
• Demonstrate perioperative clinical expertise and apply unit policies and standards.
• Assume unit leadership as Resource Nurse and mentor other staff as assigned.
• Complete timely documentation and communicate necessary information to the health care team.
• Partner with patients and families, educate on care and monitor outcomes.
• Support CCMC standards through professional practice.
