Job summary

STEPS for Kids, Inc. is seeking an occupational therapist to join our pediatric team. We offer PRN, part-time and full-time options with a hybrid schedule that supports work-from-home flexibility (no telehealth).

You will focus on intervention, empowerment, and advocacy for children and families within a strengths-based, family-centered framework. The ideal candidate has pediatric experience, a valid Illinois OT license, and a collaborative, compassionate approach.

Qualifications

• Illinois OT license in good standing.
• Experience with pediatric populations and family-centered care.
• DIR/Floortime experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible and motivated for problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Provide pediatric OT evaluations and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team.
• Deliver play-based interventions and family education.
• Mentor and support program development within STEPS for Kids.

Requirements

• Ability to work with a diverse range of ages, birth through adolescence, with a wide variety of neurodevelopmental conditions.
• Experience with DIR/Floortime, ASI preferred but not required. Mentoring available.
• Peds experience preferred but not required. Will consider a strong new graduate.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to all audiences.
• Compassion and dedication to pediatric care; focus on family centered care that is neurodiversity affirming.
• Flexible and motivated for problem solving.
• Able to work equally well independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to professional and personal development.
• Competency in evaluations, care planning, documentation and treatment planning for pediatric population.
• State of Illinois Occupational Therapist license in good standing.
