Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a Nutrition Technician to accurately prepare, translate and deliver special formulas, supplements and trays for patients. You will maintain patient diet records, kardex and logs for order accuracy using CNMC information systems and answer the department foodservice phone.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED (A.A. preferred) and at least 3 years of related healthcare/foodservice experience.

Qualifications

• Basic calculations for formulas and portions.
• Translate written instructions into diet products and infant formulas.
• Measure micro and macro levels of special products accurately.
• Perform basic IT data entry and printing functions.

Responsibilities

• Polite and professional attitude to all customers.
• Communicate pertinent information to Supervisor/Manager or Director.
• Receive and maintain accurate orders for patient meals using CNMC systems.
• Prepare and review patient menus and adhere to special diets.
• Prepare and deliver infant formula and supplements per RD guidance.
• Maintain patient information in kardex, logs and IT systems.
• Inventory food items and communicate needs to supervision.
• Enter data on floor stock and nourishment usage and print reports.
• Support Performance Improvement data collection as requested.
• Maintain safety and sanitation per HACCP standards.
• Answer department phone and log information per guidelines.
