Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC, is seeking a Nutrition Technician to accurately prepare, translate and deliver special formulas and meals for pediatric patients, and maintain diet orders in CNMC information systems.

You will handle order accuracy, document requests, and communicate with the Nutrition Service team; minimum education is a high school diploma with 3 years in healthcare/foodservice.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree (preferred) is a plus.
• At least 3 years in healthcare or foodservice settings.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to translate written instructions and formulas into diet products.
• Ability to measure micro and macro ingredients accurately.
• Ability to perform basic IT data entry and print functions.

Responsibilities

• Receive and maintain accurate and current orders for patient meals/formulas.
• Prepare, review and correct patient menus per department standards.
• Prepare infant formula and special supplements as RD-approved.
• Maintain patient diet/formula information in departmental systems.
• Ensure accurate documentation using kardex/logs/IT systems.
• Inventory special food items and communicate needs to supervisor.
• Enter data on floor stock and nourishment usage; print reports.
• Support performance improvement activities as requested.
• Comply with safety and sanitation standards per HACCP guidance.
• Answer department calls and log requests for service.
