Job summary

Nexus Children’s Hospital – Dallas is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to support pediatric patients with neurodevelopmental needs. Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, you will implement individualized treatment plans to improve mobility, safety, and participation in daily activities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program.
• Current Texas PTA licensure.
• At least six months of acute care or rehab experience.
• BLS certification valid for at least six months from hire.
• Experience with therapeutic exercise, mobility training, adaptive equipment, and clinical documentation.
• Strong communication and ability to build rapport with children and families.
• Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver PTA interventions under supervision of a licensed PT.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises to improve motor control, balance, and mobility.
• Assist patients in practicing skills for daily activities.
• Use assistive technology and adaptive equipment for safety.
• Observe and document patient progress and share findings with PT.
• Adapt treatment plans as patient needs change.
• Collaborate with OTs, behavioral specialists, nurses, physicians, and care team.
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercises and safety.
• Complete accurate documentation in the EHR.
• Participate in team meetings and continuing education.
• Maintain a safe, supportive environment.
