Job summary

Nexus Children's Hospital - Dallas is seeking a Physical Therapist to provide individualized care to children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders, neurological impairments, and complex medical and behavioral needs. You will evaluate each patient’s abilities, develop meaningful treatment goals, and provide therapy that helps them gain greater independence.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy is required. A master’s degree or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is strongly preferred.
• At least two years of clinical physical therapy experience.
• Current Texas licensure as a Physical Therapist.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross that will remain valid for at least six months from the date of hire.
• Experience evaluating movement and developing evidence-based treatment plans for patients with complex needs.
• Strong documentation skills and experience using an electronic health record.
• The ability to explain clinical goals and treatment recommendations clearly to patients, families, and team members.
• Sound clinical judgment, organization, adaptability, and a patient-centered approach.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations of gross motor skills, gait, balance, coordination, and functional mobility.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals based on the patient’s needs and care team input.
• Provide evidence-based interventions focusing on functional movement, motor learning, and mobility.
• Select and use appropriate therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment.
• Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as conditions change.
• Collaborate with behavioral health professionals to deliver trauma-informed therapy.
• Partner with other clinicians during rounds and care planning.
• Involve families in goal-setting, therapy education, and home programs.
