Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Per Diem Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) for the Neuro Child Evaluation division in Neptune, NJ. The role focuses on patient-centered, coordinated care with a broad scope of practice, including assessment, orders, prescriptions, and care planning.

The APN will collaborate with physicians, participate in rounds, and mentor other APNs. NJ licensure, prescriptive authority, and board certification are required, with adherence to HMH standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of NLN/AACN accredited nursing program.
• Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited NP program.
• Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education.
• NPI (National Provider Identifier).
• Prescriptive authority through CDS/DEA per NJ law.
• Collaborative agreement with physicians on staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office/Google Suite).
• NJ state nursing licenses and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents history and physical assessments across pediatric patients.
• Orders, performs, and interprets labs and diagnostic tests with physicians.
• Manages general medical conditions with appropriate treatments.
• Prescribes medications safely under guidelines.
• Promotes APN practice recognition through conferences and publications.
• Provides patient- and family-centered care.
• Adheres to nursing policies, standards, and quality indicators.
• Applies evidence-based medicine to improve care outcomes.
• Plan and evaluate transitions of care for chronic conditions.
• Mentor APNs and precept students in APN programs.
