Job summary

Lurie Children’s Hospital is seeking a Milieu Therapist for the IPU-B unit, a specialized neurodevelopmental inpatient service for children and adolescents facing mental health crises. You will provide direct patient care in a therapeutic milieu, lead activities, and support treatment plans tailored to developmental needs.

Responsibilities include implementing care plans, assisting in group and classroom activities, maintaining safety, and communicating changes to the care team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, nursing, social services or related field.
• Minimum of one year direct experience in a mental health setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of child care and development, mental disorders in children.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a therapeutic milieu.
• Assist and lead milieu activities as assigned.
• Set age-appropriate goals and behavioral limits.
• Document patient status and progress in medical records.
• Support group, recreational and classroom activities as needed.
