Job summary

The Registered Nurse position at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago focuses on IPU-B, a specialized neurodevelopmental inpatient unit caring for children and adolescents facing mental health crises.

You will provide structured and therapeutic care tailored to developmental needs. You will perform assessments, develop and adjust care plans, educate families, and collaborate with the care team to monitor patient status and respond to changing conditions in a fast-paced pediatric

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required; RN license in Illinois.
• BSN preferred; if associate degree with plan to return for BSN within 1 year.
• Current BLS certification through American Heart Association.
• Pediatric experience preferred; psych experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing assessments utilizing a variety of assessment methods and/or area-specific tools.
• Develops or individualizes plans of care and establishes goals relative to family needs.
• Evaluates and documents changes to the plan.
• Develops or individualizes teaching plans/protocols to meet patient and family learning needs.
• Identifies patient preferences and needs including motivation to learn.
• Performs nursing care according to procedures/protocols.
• Communicates with the family and multidisciplinary team to identify health care needs.
• Keeps up to date in nursing practice by reviewing current literature and applying quality initiatives.
