Job summary

Shriners Spokane is seeking a part-time Medical Technologist to join our clinical laboratory team. The role covers chemistry, microbiology, hematology, blood banking, urinalysis, and phlebotomy within a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor of Medical Technology or CLS/Science, with state licensure and ASCP or equivalent certification. Preferred candidates have pediatric phlebotomy experience and WA phlebotomy license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Medical Technology, CLS or Science; 1 year Clinical Laboratory MLT (ASCP), CLS or Equivalent certification.
• Medical Technologist License in state of practice.
• 5 years Clinical Laboratory Pediatric Phlebotomy experience and WA State Phlebotomy License is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and utilizes resources within the department to maximize efficiency.
• Resolves basic equipment problems or malfunctions, overseeing maintenance and serving as a resource to staff.
• Evaluates and orders inventory of laboratory supplies with approval of manager.
• Reviews all pertinent patient results to ensure quality assurance measures are followed.
• Checks for outdated supplies and insufficent quantities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of LIS/HIS computer functions as they relate to testing and reporting.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities within the Department and Hospital.
