Job summary

Shriners Children’s in Spokane, WA is seeking a part-time Medical Technologist to provide clinical laboratory services and interpret diagnostic tests in chemistry, microbiology, hematology and more. The role supports quality assurance and works within LIS/HIS environments.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor of Medical Technology or CLS, 1 year clinical lab experience, and active licensure in the state; ASCP/CLS or equivalent certification is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Medical Technology, CLS or Science required.
• 1 year of Clinical Laboratory experience required.
• MLT/ASCP, CLS or equivalent certification.
• Medical Technologist license in state of practice.

Responsibilities

• Plans and utilizes resources within the department to maximize efficiency.
• Oversees equipment maintenance and serves as a resource to staff.
• Reviews pertinent patient results to ensure quality assurance.
• Interacts with laboratory information system (LIS) and/or hospital information system (HIS) functions related to testing and reporting.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities within the Department and Hospital.

Diagnostic procedures performed may include chemistry, microbiology, hemostasis, hematology, blood banking, urinalysis and phlebotomy. Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and acts as a resource to staff and the general public regarding assigned areas of responsibility.
