Job summary

Shriners Children’s Spokane is seeking a part-time Medical Technologist to provide clinical laboratory services across chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and related areas, complying with regulatory standards. The MT will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and support quality assurance and performance improvement efforts.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or a related science, MT/CLS certification, and a WA state license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, CLS or Science.
• 1 year Clinical Laboratory experience.
• MLT (ASCP), CLS or equivalent certification.
• Medical Technologist license in state of practice.

Responsibilities

• Plans and utilizes resources within the department to maximize efficiency.
• Resolves basic equipment problems or malfunctions, overseeing the maintenance and serving as a resource to staff.
• Evaluates and orders inventory of laboratory supplies with approval of manager.
• Reviews all pertinent patient results to ensure all quality assurance mechanisms have been adhered to.
• Checks for outdated supplies and materials and insufficient quantities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of LIS/HIS computer functions related to testing and reporting.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities within the Department and the Hospital.
• Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established time-lines.
