Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for a fast-paced clinic in Indianapolis. The role balances patient care (about 60%) with administrative duties (about 40%), operating primarily in-office with occasional patient rooming during busy periods.

You will prepare patients, assist providers, perform phlebotomy as needed, and maintain exam rooms while ensuring smooth patient flow and timely documentation in EMR systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; graduation from Medical Assistant program required.
• Current CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA or CMAC certification required.
• Externship completed prior to hire.
• Experience in pediatrics and phlebotomy preferred or willingness to learn.
• Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills essential.

Responsibilities

• The role is primarily office-based, but the MA must be able to step in and room patients during busy periods.
• Prepare patients for visits by obtaining vitals, medical history, and visit information.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and developmental assessments.
• Perform clinical tasks including phlebotomy as needed.
• Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms.
• Coordinate patient flow to support timely and efficient clinic operations.
• Manage supplies and maintain organized clinical spaces.
• Provide support to patients and families in a compassionate, professional manner.
• Complete documentation and administrative tasks accurately and timely.
