Job summary

Urgent Care for Children (UC4C) is seeking a Medical Assistant in Daphne, Alabama to deliver clinical support and coordinate patient experiences. This role blends hands-on patient care with front-end administrative duties, offering cross-coverage across clinical and coordination tasks.

The position requires a high school diploma, BLS, and 1+ year of MA experience; CMA certification is preferred. Expect shift rotations, with evening/weekend hours and premium pay opportunities in a team-driven,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current CMA certification is preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • 1+ year of experience in medical assistant or patient-facing healthcare role.
  • Comfort navigating EMR and scheduling systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to be cross-trained.
  • Commitment to compassionate, family-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, room, and prepare patients for appointments with warmth and professionalism.
  • Complete patient intake, obtain vital signs, and conduct defined scope assessments.
  • Perform point-of-care testing (strep, flu, RSV, COVID, Hgb, etc.).
  • Administer intramuscular injections safely and monitor for adverse reactions.
  • Perform diagnostic X-rays per clinic protocols and safety standards (training provided).
  • Assist physicians and advanced care practitioners with patient care.
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain infection control standards.
  • Support medication refills, prior authorizations, referrals, and recall efforts.
  • Ensure patient charts are accurate and up-to-date in the EMR.
  • Welcome patients and guide them through check-in and registration processes.
  • Collect and verify demographic and insurance information in the EMR.
  • Schedule appointments, follow-ups, consults, and referrals.
  • Answer and manage incoming calls with empathy and professionalism.
  • Support outreach related to quality measures and follow-up care.
  • Maintain strong communication with clinical and administrative teams for continuity of care.
  • Assist with opening/closing clinic procedures and general organization.
