Job summary

Heart of Florida Health Center seeks a Medical Assistant to deliver quality patient care within the clinic environment. The role supports providers, manages exam rooms, and assists with immunizations, lab tests, and patient records while upholding HIPAA and privacy standards.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma, BLS certification, and preferred Florida MA/CNA certification, with pediatric care experience and Spanish fluency as desirable assets.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS Certificate from nationally recognized organizations that include hands-on skills verification.
• State of Florida MA/CNA Certification preferred.
• Spanish fluency is desirable, but not essential.
• Ability to effectively communicate and establish collaborative relationships with physicians, patients, clinic and administrative staff, and the public.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights (HIPAA). Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, and other sensitive materials and information.
• One year of medical office, clinic, or hospital experience is preferred.
• Minimum one year of pediatric care experience.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner.
• Maintains patient priority focus with respectful demeanor.
• Prepares pre-visit planning and examines rooms.
• Performs and records vital signs accurately.
• Documents vaccine, lab, and inventory logs and reviews refrigerator temperatures.
• Maintains inventory and notifies when supplies are needed.
• Participates in daily care team huddles.
• Performs routine in-office tests and immunizations as ordered.
• Documents patient history and medication reconciliation.
• Handles lab requests and ensures timely results.
• Adheres to infection control policies and CHRA/OSHA guidelines.
• Performs CLIA-waived tests as needed.
• Manages patient privacy and PHI disclosures.
• Handles referrals and portal communications.
• Resolves patient issues with supervision as needed.
• Performs housekeeping duties in exam areas.
• Works with providers during procedures/exams as needed.
