Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a pharmacist to ensure the integrity and safety of drug use across patient populations in the Richmond area. The role requires Virginia licensure within 90 days and a Pharm.D. preferred, with emphasis on neonatal to geriatric care and clinical service delivery.

Responsibilities include monitoring orders, resolving drug therapy problems, counseling patients, and ensuring rapid, accurate dispensing by the pharmacy team. Evenings, nights and weekends are required.

Qualifications

• Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy required or obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited program.
• Pharm.D. from an accredited program preferred.
• Monitor, verify, and counsel on drug orders and therapy; ensure proper dosage and administration.

Responsibilities

• Counsel patients on safe and proper use of medications.
• Resolve drug therapy problems and clarify problematic orders.
• Verify dosage, route, and schedule for all drug orders.
• Counsel and support pharmacy staff in operations and safety.
