Job summary

VCU Health seeks a licensed Pharmacist to oversee drug-use safety and patient counseling for diverse populations in Virginia. The role requires Virginia licensure (or within 90 days) and may extend to supervisory duties as needed.

Preferred candidates hold a Pharm.D. and have at least one year of relevant pharmacy practice. Availability to work evenings, nights and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited program.
• Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy or obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
• Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy for continued employment.
• Minimum of one year of pharmacy practice experience preferred.
• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited program is preferred.
• Must be available to work evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, screen and verify all drug-related orders for proper dosage, route, dosage form and administration schedule.
• Counsel patients regarding the safe and proper use of their medications.
• Resolve drug therapy problems and clarify/provide corrections for problematic orders.
• Direct pharmacy technicians to perform special assignments as needed.
• Ensure expedited preparation and dispensing of all dosage forms by pharmacy personnel.
