Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Pharmacist to ensure drug use safety and effectiveness for all patients across Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics. The role requires Virginia licensure upon hire or within 90 days and a BS in Pharmacy; Pharm.D. preferred for advanced practice.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree required (BS in Pharmacy).
• Pharmacy licensure with Virginia State Board of Pharmacy required or obtained within 90 days.
• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, screen and verify drug-related orders for correct dosage, route, dosage form and schedule.
• Ensure expedited preparation and dispensing of all dosage forms by pharmacy personnel.
• Resolve drug therapy problems and clarify problematic orders.
• Counsel patients regarding safe and proper use of medications.
• Designate pharmacy technicians to perform special assignments.
• Resolve equipment and operational problems.
