Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Lactation Consultant to join an interdisciplinary patient-care team delivering lactation services and education aligned with the medical center’s mission and values.

The role focuses on mothers and infants, including those hospitalized, with emphasis on breastfeeding assessment, planning, and instruction, while maintaining standards of care. The position is full-time and on-site in Atlanta.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
• IBCLC certification preferred or required as per role.
• Experience in pediatric populations emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates expertise in care of mothers/infants with complex breastfeeding problems.
• Determines breastfeeding plan and provides instruction and support to mothers breastfeeding children requiring hospitalization
• Implements standards of care and policies and procedures for breastfeeding management
• Assists in assessing, planning, and evaluating teaching materials and methods used for breastfeeding
• Directs lactation training and education of clinical staff
• Implements departmental standards for documenting all aspects of work-related activities
• Participates as a member of interdisciplinary team
• Plans and initiates professional development responsibilities
